Project Accountant

We are seeking a Project Accountant to join the financial team at our collaborative firm.
In this role you’ll use problem solving and critical thinking while applying accounting, finance, and business acumen. This role is under the direct supervision of the Financial Director and will work with the Financial Director, Firm Principals, Project Managers, and Accounting Personnel.
The role requires experience in Project Accounting in an Architectural, Engineering or Construction (AEC) firm or a similar Project Accounting function in another professional consulting industry.
Job Title: Project Accountant
Role and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordination of monthly billing with Principals/Project Managers
- Client-specific invoice formatting
- Creation of advance invoices
- Participation in monthly billing run and distribution reports
- Uploading invoices and data into various software interfaces
- Set up and maintenance of projects according to contract terms
- Reviewing Insurance requirements and obtaining certificates
- Tracking change orders and direct and indirect costs
- Tracking subconsultant invoices and other project expenses
- Tracking project status in coordination with Project Managers and others
- Responding to various report requests from Project Managers
- Maintaining accounting ledger by posting monthly transactions
- Preparing necessary billing reports to specific timelines
- Assisting with Accounts Receivable
- Providing accounting and administrative support as needed
Education, Experience, and Abilities
- Degree in Accounting or Finance (or functional equivalent) required
- 2+ years Project Billing experience in Professional Services Industry (or functional equivalent) required
- Proficiency in Deltek Vision or similar project accounting software required
- Accounting experience in an architecture firm or construction firm preferred
- Organizational skills and close attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Friendly and professional customer service capability and flexible attitude
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Proficient with PC/Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Role Location
This is a full-time position based in San Francisco. We follow a hybrid/remote model of 3 days in-office, with the role ideally being in-person.
Salary Range
$70,000 - $95,000 USD annually. Salary commensurate with experience.
